Nutritional Benefits Of Olives

Olives are much more than a simple side dish, condiment and food oil. Here at Molives, we acknowledge and pay homage to just how incredible these tree born fruits are. Olives hold a number of natural nutritional benefits which make them even more to enjoy and indulge in. Join us on this journey in appreciating and discovering the health and nutritional benefits of the fruit that the Olea Europea bears for us.

From the very beginnings of its usage within ancient civilisations such as the Minoans, Romans and Greeks, olives were highly considered in terms of their health benefits and the olive tree itself was thought to be sacred, a gift from god (or the gods, depending on the culture!). Olives are energy providing fruits which contain a number of essential minerals, vital vitamins and of course, plant-derived antioxidants. Anti-oxidants are chemicals which have the possible ability of preventing cancer and clearing out arteries from being clogged with saturated fats.

In terms of ensuring that these nutritional benefits are maximised, olives must be harvested, processed and preserved with care and attention. This is something core to the Molives principle as we work closely with our regional farmers on small scale olive farms, allowing the fruits to be processed and ready to eat when they are ripe and in the prime of their lives, both on a taste level and in terms of nutritional benefits.

Vitamins can be lost in a fruit as the olive matures and ripens and so harvesting slightly unripe olives allows for more time in processing. The bitterness of natural, raw olives from the tree is taken care of during this processing practice and preservation in salt brine allows for the olives to maintain their freshness. Our carefully crafted Molives pouches extend this idea of ensuring that the olives you consume are both fresh and crisp in taste and stuffed with the highest nutritional benefits.
